The audited accounts for our 2012 Annual Scientific Meeting in Brisbane show a pre-tax profit of just under $20,000. Those who went to Brisbane will know that the venue, facilities, catering and social events were of very high quality and of course that comes at a cost; we also decided to increase significantly the level of support available for students attending this year. With that context, I am very happy to see a positive financial outcome, especially given that the initial budgetary predictions for this meeting indicated a potential loss in excess of $100,000. I would like to thank David Black, Andrew Wood and all the other members of the Local Organizing Committee, and of course Paula Leishman and her team, who all worked so hard to achieve not only a great meeting but also one that did pretty well financially.
