Letter from BEMS President

At the recent BioEM2021 conference, members of BEMS and EBEA voted to merge the two societies. The results of this vote were 90% in favour of the merger.

Recently, there has been some inaccurate reporting regarding the merger. I hereby assure all the BEMS members that the BEMS board of directors, the EBEA council members and the BIOEM interim board are working hard to ensure a smooth transition following the merger to the new BIOEM society. BEMS is using the advice of its US lawyer to ensure that the entire process of merger and dissolution meets all the legalĀ  requirements. The same lawyer has been involved throughout the entire process and will continue to assist BEMS until finalisation.

The merger process is currently on-going and good progress has been made in establishing the new BIOEM society. The call for nominations for board members has just been issued, with the closing date of 19th of December.

The date for submission of logo ideas for the new society is 31 December 2021. Further details are available here (https://www.bems.org/node/15758).

In other news, the Local Organizing Committee and Technical Program Committee is hard at work with the conference arrangements for BioEM2022 in Nagoya. The call for special sessions was issued last week, seeĀ https://www.bems.org/node/15761.
