Development of wireless communication is rapid which is a challenge for epidemiological exposure assessment. Given that modern mobile phones and tablets are constantly connected to the internet, is not clear whether simple surrogates like duration of mobile phone use still represent RF-EMF exposure of the population. Moreover, organ specific dosimetry has recently provided the basis for development of organ specific exposure surrogates.
The aim of this symposium is to provide an introduction into environmental exposure assessment concepts for non-epidemiologists and subsequently discuss most recent developments of exposure assessment methods and new results from on-going epidemiological studies applying new exposure assessment tools. The overall aim of the plenary is to stimulate an interdisciplinary exchange between epidemiological and technical expertise.
