On behalf of all of our members who attended BioEM2013, I want to thank Theo Samaras and his Local Organizing Committee for doing such a great job for us in Thessaloniki. They worked very hard to make the meeting a truly wonderful experience and we all appreciate that. The Technical Program Committee Chairs, Meike Mevissen and Carmela Marino put together an excellent program and attendees will soon be receiving a questionnaire to provide feedback on the meeting quality.
We are already working on next year’s meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. This is a very popular tourist destination with lots to see, including penguins on the beach. So I encourage all of you to make plans now for June 9-13, 2014. Marnus Van Wyk is Chairing the Local Organizing Committee and Phil Chadwick and Theo Samaras are chairing the Technical Program Committee for next year. Please send them your suggestions for Plenary and Workshop session topics and speakers.
You received a call for Local Organizers for the 2016 BioEM meeting. We hope to hear from several of you who would enjoy being the Local Organizer and bringing the meeting to a location near you. It is a very rewarding experience that you will never forget! Please consider this opportunity.
We are also looking for a part-time communications coordinator to maintain, develop, and expand the Society’s presence on the internet and other media, and to facilitate the exchange of news and ideas among Society members and the broader community interested in bioelectromagnetics. We encourage all of you who might be interested in this great position to apply.
As you can see from the above, the BEMS Executive Committee has been busy working on ways to make BEMS more useful to its members. We have been holding monthly video conferences to consider many issues regarding a range of topics from meeting format to By Laws. As President my main goal is to make BEMS more attractive and useful to our membership to ultimately increase our membership numbers. To this end, we want to make the BEMS.org web site more current and lively and to help the Technical Program Committee to select exciting plenary topics to enhance meeting attendance. Most importantly, we need you to actively participate by giving us your input. Sit down right now and send me an email with your ideas for making BEMS more useful to you (email@example.com).
All the best,
